Horse Riding in Yellowstone

Horse Riding in YellowStone

Explore the Bechler region of Yellowstone National Park on this 3 day, 2 night guided pack trip. Suitable for adults of any ability and for kids aged 8 and over with a bit of experience, this fun group tour will get you discovering one of the most beautiful areas of Yellowstone.

Yellowstone National Park was the first place in the world to be dedicated a National Park. Home to hot springs and shooting geysers, lush river valleys and magnificent high mountains it’s little wonder it was awarded such an accolade. Moose, deer, black bears, grizzly bears, wolves, eagles, sandhill cranes and many more animals are found here. These creatures are lords unto themselves so spotting wildlife in the backcountry is always a treat. The Bechler region is an area of Yellowstone most noted for the numerous waterfalls that can be found here; so many that it is affectionately known as ‘Cascade Corner’.

This particular area of Yellowstone is awash with water and you’ll get to see some of the prettiest spots in the area. Splash through rivers on horseback at Boundary Creek, one of Yellowstone’s most scenic streams. Spend time fishing in Bechler River. Trek to Colonnade Falls or the bubbling hot pots at Three Rivers junction - warm thermal springs where you can soak away your troubles. Picnic along the Fall River, mosey through sun-dappled forests and enjoy evenings of hearty meals cooked on open-fires.

This trip is for anyone over the age of 8, with a weight restriction of 250lbs. It is helpful to have some experience of riding horses before you arrive, but not essential. The team will make sure you’re matched with a horse that suits your level of experience and confidence. The average group size is 6 to 7 people.

Reviews of this experience

  1. I'm a repeat customer and I absolutely love riding with Dry Ridge Outfitters. Deb and Kevin greet you like family and are sure to find the right horse to match your needs. These trips have certainly opened my eyes to some of the most beautiful country I've found in the US -- each unique vista of the the Teton Range, the thousands of wildflowers, high mountain lakes, and crystal clear creeks. It's a true step back from my busy life in the city. Highly recommended!!
