Deserts & Colours of Rajasthan

Delhi to Udaipur - colours

Immerse yourself in India on this 16-day private tour of colourful Rajasthan from Delhi to Udaipur. Marvel at the Taj Mahal, barter in the bazaars, and be spellbound by the landscape.

No guidebook can ever prepare you for India. The sights, sounds and smells that exist here and make this part of the world so compelling can only ever be appreciated first hand. From cities, like Delhi, rammed with people, ramshackle buildings and bustling bazaars, to places like the Thar desert in Rajasthan where sand dunes drift for miles on end – India can never be pinned down.

This private tour takes you to the best bots of Rajasthan from Delhi to Udaipur. You start in Delhi – so there’s no easing you in gently on this one. This bustling metropolis is packed full of must-see sights like the Parliament House and one of the largest war memorials in India - the India Gate. Then it’s on to Agra for the jewel in India’s crown – the Taj Mahal. This glistening-white marble mausoleum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and draws crowds of people from across the world to gaze in wonder. Then there’s Rajasthan itself, where you’ll explore its capital – Jaipur, get your hands dirty in tie-dye workshops, discover the desert city of Bikaner and explore the romantic city of Udaipur.

If you’ve always longed to set foot in India, but were never quite sure how to go about sorting out an itinerary, this tour is just the thing. You won’t have to worry about finding the right bus, hailing a taxi, or making sure the hotel you’ve picked is a decent one – because it’s all done for you on this tour. There is no herding round in a group on this trip and no joining busloads of other tourists, your holiday is your own. You choose when you want to go and while the trip does have an itinerary, you can go very much at your own pace.

What sets this tour apart from so many others is their approach and sensitivity to the environment and the local communities, whilst at the same time trying to give you a fantastic holiday to remember. The guides work with Kalakar Vikas Samiti in Rajasthan, a small group of traditional artists who make a living out of art and handicrafts. This gives you a chance to meet local craftsmen and women, so if you want to buy souvenirs from your holiday, you can rest assured that the proceeds will go directly back to the artists themselves.
