Spend your yurt & tipi holiday deep in the Dyfi Valley in Wales, four miles up a forest track. With just five tipis and one yurt, you can rest assured it’ll feel like you’re the only person on the planet.
If it’s a remote, back-to-basics Yurt & Tipi holiday you’re after, you’d be hard pushed to find a more fitting place. With only five tipis and one yurt set in their own spots, it’s the definition of secluded. The site itself is in a remote location and is situated on a 1,300 acre organic farm. When we say remote, we mean remote. There is no electricity, so you are well and truly off the grid. The closest house is around two miles away, so snuggle up and enjoy the un-polluted night sky.
As part of your yurt and tipi holiday, you are offered a reiki healing treatment and an evening meditation session to help you unwind and get the most out of your break. What’s more, they’re both included in the price of the holiday, so make the most of them. Tickets for the Centre for Alternative Technology at Machynlleth are also included in your holiday and it’s only seven miles away, so it makes for an easy day out. Aside from that though, it’s up to you what you do. Mountain trails, woodland walks or trips to the nearby beach at Aberdyfi – you won’t be short of things to keep you busy. Alternatively, just sit back, relax and tuck into your organic welcome hamper that you’ll find on arrival. You can read our detailed review of our fantastic stay here.
If you break out in hives at the mere thought of shopping centres, social networking websites and mobile phones, this break will be perfect. As you get better acquainted with the wildlife around you, WiFi and Bluetooth will soon be a distant memory. So, if you’re an outdoorsy type, are a keen camper, and you prefer a bit of peace and solitude, then you’ll probably never want to leave.
The tipis are 21 feet in diameter, so comfortably accommodate two people. The yurt is bigger than the tipis, so ideal for families or a couple wanting a bit more living space. In all of the accommodation, there is one double bed. If you have children with you, then a pillow and a sleeping mat will be provided, but you will need to bring your own bedding for them. If the children are older, then Michael & ChaNan can arrange for a bell tent to be pitched next to the yurt.
Whilst this is a very chilled out experience, there are a couple of rules. Firstly, as the farm is surrounded by grazing land, dogs are not allowed to come to the site. Secondly, this yurt and tipi holiday is all about relaxation, so no loud music please!
Because it is so remote most people come by car – otherwise it’s a twenty minute taxi drive from the local train station in Machynlleth or sometimes the Eco Retreats staff can give you a lift. You’ll need to arrive between 4 and 5 as someone will be there to settle you in.
An organic welcome hamper, a Reiki session, an evening meditation session and tickets to the Centre for Alternative Technology are all available as extras. You will need to bring your own food.
Prices are based on two people sharing. The prices vary from £305 for two people staying in a tipi mid week to £359 for 2 people staying in a yurt at a weekend.
