After the peace of the mountains, we will then transfer you to Marrakech, one of Morocco's most well-known imperial cities. Staying in a traditional, boutique riad for three nights, you will see some of the highlights of this magical city, including the Djemaa el Fna; the heart and soul of the city that comes alive at night with acrobats, musicians and snake charmers.
You will then head out to Morocco's Atlantic coast for a week of surfing. Lessons with experienced teachers are on the beach near to your accommodation. Your teacher will assess your skills level and will then teach you accordingly. If not everyone in your family wants to surf, the others can relax around the pool at your accommodation, or play on the beach.
Please note: Sleeping bags are required for this trek.
DAY 1: ARRIVAL & TRANSFER TO ATLAS MOUNTAINS
You will be picked up from Marrakech airport and transferred to the small town of Imlil in the Atlas Mountains. Your first night is spent in a friendly family run guest house where you will enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner on the roof terrace (weather permitting)
Meals Included: Dinner
Accommodation: Dar Adrar
Transport (where relevant): Private Transfer
DAY 2: TREK DAY 1
Imlil – Tizi n Mzik –Tizi Oussem After breakfast, you will meet your guide and muleteer. Once you have loaded up your bags, the mule and cook set off together, taking a head-start to pick a perfect picnic spot and start cooking your lunch. Your walk starts with a fairly stiff climb up towards the pass at Tizi n Mzik (2489m), which offers dramatic mountain views. From here, the trail descends down into the spectacular Azzadene valley, known locally as the valley of colour. Your day of walking ends in the small Berber village of Tizi Oussem where you will spend the night in a gite. If you’re feeling energetic, you can take a slight route detour to include the D’Irhoulidene waterfalls, this adds a couple of extra hours walking but is worth the effort. Approx. 4-5 hours walking, 6-7 hours walking including the waterfalls. (749m ascent & 649m descent)
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Village gite / camping
DAY 3: TREK DAY 2
Tizi Oussem – Tinzert After breakfast you will set off walking through the Azzadene valley, passing traditional Berber mountain villages. The view behind you is of the peaks of the High Atlas, whilst the valley ahead offers beautiful scenery with a rushing mountain stream surrounded by lush walnut groves. As you descend you will eventually enter the Ouirgane National Park, a protected area of natural beauty. Tonight you stay in Tinzert, a rustic Berber village. Approx. 5-6 hours walking (640m descent)
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Village gite / camping
DAY 4: TREK DAY 3
Tinzert – Imi Oughlad – Imlil Today is the gentlest day of walking; there are fewer steep inclines and descents so you can really enjoy the Mediterranean-esque scenery. Shepherds tend to their goats amongst the pretty valleys dotted with juniper trees, rosemary and thyme. You will be walking towards Imi Oughlad where you will have lunch before saying goodbye to your cook, guide (and mule). After lunch, you will be picked up and driven to your accommodation in Imlil where you can enjoy a hot shower followed by an afternoon of relaxation. Approx. 4 hours walking (200m ascent)
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Dar Adrar
DAY 5: TRANSFER FROM IMLIL - MARRAKECH
You will be picked up after breakfast and transferred to Marrakech (about 1 ½ hours). Once you have settled into your riad, we suggest you set off and explore Marrakech's medina. You can spend all afternoon exploring the souks and taking in the atmosphere or you could relax on the roof terrace on one of the sun loungers. In the evening, be sure to head down to the main square where food stalls, acrobats, snake charmers and story tellers congregate creating an unforgettable atmosphere which is compelling for adults and children alike.
Meals Included: Breakfast
Accommodation: Riad Tzarra
Transport (where relevant): Private Transfer
DAY 6: DAY AT LEISURE IN MARRAKECH
Today you might want to see some of the main cultural sights of Marrakech, including the Medersa Ben Youssef, Palais el Badi and the Bahia Palace, interspersed with a leisurely lunch watching the storks nesting on the ramparts of the ancient city or perhaps some people watching at a cafe in the Spice market. In the evening, you might want to enjoy dinner in one of the restaurants over-looking the main square, or perhaps ask your host to book you a table at the atmospheric Fondouk restaurant, serving up delicious French & Moroccan fusion food.
Meals Included: Breakfast
Accommodation: Riad Tzarra
DAY 7: DAY AT LEISURE IN MARRAKECH
Today you might want to catch a petit taxi out to the Majorelle Gardens, designed by Yves Saint Laurent. The gardens are beautifully laid out and offer a welcome respite to the chaos of the medina. (There is also a lovely cafe there) In the afternoon, you might want to take it easy and see the ramparts from the comfort of a caleche (horse and cart.) In the evening, you might want to go back to the Djemaa el Fna, or perhaps head to the new town for some more Western cuisine.
Meals Included: Breakfast
Accommodation: Riad Tzarra
DAY 8: TRANSFER TO ESSAOUIRA
You will be picked up after breakfast and transferred to Essaouira. The afternoon is yours at leisure, to go rock-pooling on the beach, or relax around the pool. The drive takes around 3 hours, with a comfort break along the way. Essaouira is a small, laid-back city located on the Atlantic coast just 3 hours away from Marrakech. It offers a relaxing medina with none of the stresses of the chaotic imperial cities. A bustling fishing port, this windy city is something of an artist's hub, with a thriving music and art scene. The large bay attracts wind and kite surfers and the vast sandy beach is a popular promenading spot. Because of the wind, this is not somewhere that you come to sunbathe and soak up the rays, but somewhere to breathe in the ocean air, eat freshly caught fish and enjoy the relaxed vibe. Once you have settled into your riad, you can go for an explore of the town. For your first meal, we suggest visiting one of the many fish restaurants in the town.
Meals Included: Breakfast
Accommodation: Riad Watier
Transport (where relevant): Private Transfer

Another nice day trip is to Les Domaines du Val D'Argan, southern Morocco's only vineyard. With the good food and drink (alcohol is served), swimming pool, relaxed ambiance and friendly service you can easily while away an afternoon here. You also will pass the Cooperative D'Argan Marjana, a nice stop if you'd like to see how argan oil is produced and stock up on good quality creams and lotions.

This holiday is available from April until October. The trekking and Marrakech parts are possible during the winter, but the surfing is best enjoyed in the warmer months.
This family activity holiday is a balance between trekking, surfing and a smattering of culture. It is not a children's holiday, rather it has been designed for parents and children who want to have an active holiday to suit a mixture of tastes and interests.
For the trekking, you all need to be relatively fit. You will walk for about 4-5 hours a day, but as well as being accompanied by a guide and a mule to carry your bags, an additional mule will be provided in case one of the children needs to rest their weary legs.
Tourdust trek grading: Moderate
As far as the surfing is concerned, this is available for surfers of all levels, from beginner to the advanced. The lessons will be in groups, according to ability. It is a relaxed atmosphere, so whether you or your child is a beginner or a pro, there should be plenty of opportunity to enjoy yourselves together. There is no minimum age for the surfing, as long as your child can swim they are welcome to give it a go.
In Marrakech, we recommend splashing out a little on a nice well located riad, as a calm space where you and your children can relax is an invaluable retreat from the buzz and heat of Marrakech. We can of course also recommend cheaper options if you are on a tight budget.
The time in Marrakech is self-guided and the trekking will be just you. However, for the surfing lessons, you may well be with other people.

We would very much like to give our feedback regarding our trip to Morocco because it was absolutely fantastic. From start to finish there was nothing to fault, Mustafa our guide in the mountains was great - discrete when necessary but delightfully eloquent and informed about a wide variety of subjects. The food in the mountains was superb ( though the toilet facilities in the gites d'etape left a lot to be desired!!) The guest house Dar Adrar was beautiful with amazing views. The riad in Marrakesh was lovely and such a welcome respite after the hectic souks.....and as for the surfing.....it was fab!!!! Mohammed our instructor was patient and so super cool....a real gem and great with our children.
All in all it was wonderful and we were all sad to leave. We will definitely consider using Tourdust again and wont hesitate to recommend you to our friends.

An amazing holiday - thank you.
Trekking was excellent, Mustapha, our guide, was lovely, and food was delicious. Hotel in Imlil was also great. But litter on the mountains was upsetting.
Marrakesh is incredible. Riad (Dar Vedra) was lovely, although we were a bit unsure whether we could ask for drinks etc. The owner was away and I'm not sure the staff were as attentive as usual - or maybe we'd just been spoilt in the mountains.
Surfing was fun. We just did two mornings, but this was fine. We visited Essaouira one afternoon and went on a camel ride the other. Really liked the accommodation at Windy Kaouki. But would have been good to know that there was no cashpoint in Sidi Kaouki.
Brilliant holiday - thanks again.

The whole holiday was fabulous: we really enjoyed it all, but three things really stand out as exceptional.
1. Adil, our guide in the Atlas, was a lovely guy - helpful, kind and considerate, really good company, informative, nothing was too much trouble, and he gauged our speed really well, also when to leave us to our own devices. I'm sure you get lots of enthusiastic feedback for him. Plus it was really nice to be met at the airport with bottles of water and sweets.
2. Roro / Le Kaouki. We so enjoyed it here. The hotel is lovely, atmospheric, beautiful, and also cosy with a fire on chilly / windy evenings. Roro is a really fantastic host who again was brilliant company, and very considerate to us, for instance making us some bland food when one of us was unwell. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and comfortable.
3. The Morocco Blue surf company. All the instructors were great (esp Mohammed), adapting the lessons really well to our individual progress and ability (or lack of in my case). There was a really good, fun cameraderie in the classes and we enjoyed having lessons in both Sidi Kaouki and Essaouira. On one afternoon we did not feel up to having a class, so they gave us an extra one on the final morning, which we did not expect. They also arranged and paid for a taxi for my husband and daughter when they finished early in Essaouira one day. I would recommend them to anyone and the manager (Azhul?) was great.
Of course we also loved the Dar Vedra in Marrakech. All the arrangements for transport etc. worked out very smoothly. I really felt like I didn't have to worry about anything.
