Overview

Along the west coast of the Cape Peninsula is The Last Word Long Beach; an idyllic seaside resort near the coastal town on Kommetjie that is suitable for couples, friends, and families in-between safaris.

Whilst it will take nearly an hour to travel to the Cape Town city bowl, the Last Word offers guests a personalised beachside experience with plenty to do in the surrounding area. Activities revolve around the outdoor lifestyle that inspired this boutique hotel. There are nature excursions through the flora-rich Kommetjie region and cultural visits to historical icons such as the Slangkop lighthouse or Peers’ Cave. Outdoor adventures lead guests over winding trails through mountains by foot or by bike, where often at the end awaits a local restaurant serving freshly-caught seafood. Horse riding is also a popular activity along the beach, as is a family trip to the Longbeach Mall.

Guest accommodation consists of 12 rooms comprised of standard suites and superior suites, all of which have been decorated with hand-painted natural fabrics and hues. Each room has en-suite facilities and a generous outside patio with sea views. With so few rooms available, intimacy and isolation are assured.

The communal facilities here are also top-class. An outdoor pool is a much-welcomed place to relax on warmer days with a drink, and there are spa services for total relaxation after a spate of long safaris. The bar and lounge area, as well as the garden areas leading out onto the beach, compliment the general tranquil atmosphere of the resort.

Children of all ages are welcome, and with the beach just outside the hotel they are likely to really enjoy their stay here. There are babysitting services and supervised children activities, but these come with an extra charge.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
