Overview

It’s hard to imagine when walking through the bustling Main Street of Plettenberg Bay – past the vibrant restaurants, galleries, coffee shops, and bars – that there is a tranquil place just five minutes away overlooking the ocean. The Robberg Beach Lodge is that place, and, set along the world-famous Garden Route, is a great place for couples who want a relaxing stop between safaris.

Guest accommodation consists of 29 luxurious rooms in four adjacent villas: Beachy Head Villa, Robberg House, Cottage Pie, Cordovan Villa. Each comes with its own private balcony and en-suite facilities. The ‘View’ suites in Beachy Head Villa offer the best spots overlooking the beach and Indian Ocean, but are more suited for couples than families. The main lodge has an ‘honesty bar’, an outdoor swimming pool, and braai facilities for guests to relax after a busy and fun-packed day with the children.

As is expected with a beachside resort, activities at Robberg Beach Lodge revolve around ocean-living relaxation. Guests can explore the sea just outside their rooms by boat with Ocean Sailing Charters or Whale Watching expeditions, or explore the coast by following brilliant nearby hiking trails or by playing golf along the Garden Route. The Birds of Eden is the world’s largest free flight aviary and bird sanctuary, and is located nearby for guests of all ages to enjoy. Entertainment in Plettenberg Bay is worth a try, too, with a number of venues hosting live music most nights of the week.

Children under the age of 12 years visit for free and children between the ages of 12 and 17 pay half the adult rate, as long as they are sharing with two adults. Some of the self-catered suites are great for families with children of any age and generally offer more space than the double rooms. There are suites suitable for families with small children, too.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
