Overview

‘By-ye-ti’ (‘I salute you’) is one of the warmest welcomes in African culture. It is a greeting after which Bayethe Tented Lodge was named, and in similar spirit, the Lodge offers guests a more personal experience of the African bush in the Shamwari Game Reserve than its sister camps, ideal for couples.

Bayethe Tented Lodge’s communal facilities include a Bush Relaxation Retreat, central lounge area, outdoor deck with a swimming pool, WiFi, and indoor and outdoor dining facilities. Whilst there are fewer communal facilities than in its sister camps, Bayethe’s guest accommodation more than compensates with an array of modern amenities.

The 12 detached units that form the Bayethe Tented Lodge are located among the local vegetation and feature private plunge pools. Each accommodates a maximum of two adults. The 12 units are split into two style of accommodation: Bayethe Hills and Bayethe Luxury. Three superior tents constitute Bayethe Hills, each with a private plunge pool, deck, en-suite facilities, indoor and outdoor shower, fireplace, and hammock. The nine luxury tents that make up Bayethe Luxury feature en-suite facilities, some with outdoor shower option, and a private plunge pool.

Bayethe Tented Lodge is just one of many sister lodges in the Shamwari Game Reserve. Like its sister lodges, it offers incredible opportunities to get close to and explore the surrounding wildlife. The Shamwari area is malaria-free, and has many green initiatives and animals that roam free around it, offering guests a great opportunity to experience the wildlife organically. Game Drives are one of the best ways to explore the surrounding plains. On these, guests can expect to spot elephants, giraffe, hippo, buffalo, zebra, lion, wildebeest, antelope, and hyena, with chance to also see White and Black Rhino, leopard, cheetah, and wild dog.

There are also many opportunities for guests to learn more about the area and local conservation efforts at the Rhino Awareness Centre, Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, and the Born Free Big Cat Rescue Centre, some of an array of resident efforts to prevent poaching and conserve dwindling game populations.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
