Overview

Dwyka Tented Lodge is an exclusive luxury tented camp in the stunning Sanbona Wildlife Reserve. This expansive private reserve spans 58,000 hectares of craggy peaks and vast semi-desert plains and is home to the Big 5 along with jackal, brown hyena, eland, kudu and zebra.

Dwyka Tented Lodge comprises nine stylish tents situated on a horseshoe bend of a dry Karoo ravine. Each beautifully appointed tent boasts a private deck, outdoor shower and Jacuzzi with dramatic views of the surrounding landscape. All units comprise king or twin beds and an ensuite bathroom with bath and shower, WC and twin basins. Air conditioning and heating, a minibar, and hot drink facilities are included. Guests are invited to use communal facilities at neighbouring Gondwana Lodge which include a lounge, a wine cellar, a spa, and an open-air ‘boma’.

Activities at Sanbona include game drives and guided walks with experienced, informed guides, plus boat excursions on Bellair Dam. Ornithologists will enjoy identifying some of the 200 resident bird species, whilst the unique Karoo landscape of stunning colourful succulents and distinctive quartz fields is a must for photographers. Visit one of the seven ancient San Rock art sites in the reserve, which date back 3,500 years. Free from light pollution, the night skies offer splendid conditions for stargazing, and each lodge has a powerful telescope and a guide to explain the constellations.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
