Overview

Londolozi Founders Camp is one of five connected camps all sharing a position above the Sabi river in the Londolozi private reserve, part of Sabi Sands. One of the more reasonably priced options in Londolozi, Founders camp offers a luxury stay and excellent game viewing. A fantastic kid’s programme makes it a perfect base for young families.

Recently renovated, the main areas have a laid back but luxurious feel and the lounge area offers spectacular views. The communal facilities are slightly limited but the camp runs daily group yoga classes and all guests have access to the facilities at the neighbouring Varty camp, which include a gym, pool and library. Londolozi is one of the best locations in Africa to see leopards and 3 hour long morning and evening game drives provide the perfect opportunity. Led by knowledgeable rangers, many whom have grown up in the area, specialist rhino safaris, walking and photographic safaris are all available. The game in the reserve is superb and provides reliable ‘Big Five’ viewing.

The rooms are divided into 10 luxury chalets, 7 of which can accommodate families of four. Nestled along the bank of the Sand River, the en-suite rooms are classically furnished and include all modern amenities such as air conditioning and internet access. Every chalet has indoor and outdoor showers, a large wooden deck with sweeping views over the river and private plunge pools as an alternative to a communal pool. Family suites connected by glass sky walks are an impressive addition to the family friendly atmosphere.

The activities run for children are hard to beat. ‘The Cubs Den’ runs a personal programme for 4-16 year olds that is thoughtfully put together and offers the children a broad choice. Those over 6 are able to join their parents on game drives and there is an option of a private vehicle for families with children under six. All the children’s programmes are run at no extra cost and so for young families this is an ideal choice.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
